SCRAPS OF GEORGIA

LARGE FORMAT POSTER

DESCRIPTION

“Scraps of Georgia” is a travel inspired poster I designed after a trip to Georgia, a state full of charm, warmth, and beauty. I wanted the piece to feel like flipping through someone’s old scrapbook: retro stamps, vintage postcards, faded photos, and little nods to what makes Georgia, Georgia. The layout is tall and stacked, mimicking the feel of a bulletin board where everything’s been pinned.

PROCESS

After visiting Georgia, I couldn’t stop thinking about the textures and colors I’d seen like the deep reds of baseball games, soft peaches on roadside signs, and sun-faded billboards. I started collecting visual pieces that felt like souvenirs from the trip, both physical and digital. That sparked the idea to collage pieces of Georgia together to make something that captured how I felt on that trip.

I created stamps, illustrated a foam finger, pulled typography that gave off that old-school Americana feel, and used layered textures to tie it all together. Every element, down to the “Georgia On My Mind” lyric, was intentionally chosen to feel authentic and Southern. I then printed it out and trimmed it to be put on display.
